Hello, everyone, and welcome to this week's episode of the bright side of life. I am, of course, your host, Melissa Bright. And today on the show, I have Lauren gene, who is an inner voice facilitator and also a rapid transformational therapist. And I was not aware of what either of these two things were up until about a month ago, when she came into my life. And now I am intrigued beyond belief. And so if you're kind of wondering yourself, what are these things? Well, don't worry. That's exactly what we are going to talk about today. But first, of course, I would like to introduce Lauren Lauren, welcome to the show. How are you doing today?
Lauren Jean:
I'm wonderful. Melissa, thank you so much for this opportunity. I just love love talking about anything related to this. So let's let's do it.
Melissa Bright:
Yes, let's do it. Okay, so let's, we're going to kind of break it down into two different parts, just to better help my brain. So you're two different things. The first one is the inner voice facilitator. And then the other one is your the the RTT, which I'll just save all this abbreviate it to make our lives a little bit easier. So how did you originally and what was the first thing that you got into it? Whether it was the inner voice facilitator or the other stuff? Which one did you get into? And how did you even come across this line of work? Like what were you doing to to get here? Well, ultimately,
Lauren Jean:
I started off like, my younger years. So like my early 20s, as a personal trainer, and I was just getting frustrated with people not getting results. And it's funny, because as I've gone through life, I realized I was always digging deeper, which is literally what I do. And I noticed people weren't getting results. And I just wasn't happy in taking money from people and I'm not actually getting what they wanted. So throughout my life since my 20s, and I'm 42. Now, I do this intuitive poll to just help people and not out of a, I have to feel good about myself that was helping me like, feel good, deep inside at a deeper level. So I went through that. And then I went through nutrition training. And I found that the career path that I had picked prior to that, which was I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. And I graduated with graphic design, advertising communications, and I just, I was just like, blot like, from the beginning, I knew I was not like a nine to five person, I did not want to be behind a desk. I didn't want to be in an office that to me was like, just fast forward and just like, just throw 20 years on to me right away. So I got out of that pretty quickly got into the training, and they just kept going deeper and deeper to see, okay, this isn't working, this isn't working. This isn't working. And I've never been someone to stick to something if I didn't like it. Right. And I never like I've been married twice. I didn't like them. I got out. I didn't like my job. I got out I always wanted to make myself happy. Although, when you're so young, you don't realize this is what you're doing. And you know, you're getting older, you're like, Oh, well, that's what I was doing the whole time. So I just kept going deeper and deeper. And I found RTT in 2017 through another podcast that I absolutely love. And it took me a year to dive into this because it's scary. At that point. It was a money thing. And I just like I was like I want to do this, but I don't know how so it took me a year and I heard about it again. And now I was like, Alright, I'm gonna figure out a way to do this. Regardless of the money because you know, when we want something so bad, we're going to find a way to do it. If we're meant to do it, we're going to figure it out. And that's how I did. So, that year before RTT I got into meditation. It was something I always wanted to do. I would love to be alone like I could spend An entire month, probably more in my own bedroom alone. And like last year with a pandemic, that was nothing to me, I was like, This is great. I don't have to be around people and I can just still have conversations, roll my eyes like this. It was great to me. So I started with meditation, I was like, I really want to get into this whole thought thing. Like, what is your thoughts create your reality? Like, what is that crap? Yeah, I was intrigued. But at the same time, I was like, okay, whatever. But let me play with it. So I got more into meditation. And then in the end, it was no, not the end, sorry, in April, I started RT T. And I was certified by the time September rolled around. And it took me a while to get the confidence to like, get up and do it, and know that I could actually do this, right. It's like, you know, when you have a skill, and everyone else around you is doing it. And you're still doubting yourself like, well, they can do it, but I can't, which is crazy, because you're trained the same exact way. So that didn't make sense to me. So I had to kind of throw myself into it. And I started that. In 2020. I just started offering people, free sessions, so that I can practice and get testimonials. And after probably about four or five sessions, realizing the crazy results that people were getting. I was like, Oh my God, this, this works like this really works. But I wasn't at a point where I was trusting myself yet. So I kept going. And I kept going. And I kept going. And I'm like, wow, this really works, I had to just keep repeating the process, to learn how to actually trust myself that I could do this, and that people were getting crazy results that I've never seen anywhere else. And then this year, in March, came up the inner voice facilitator, and I'd heard about it a while ago, like I said, through another podcast. And I had always been intrigued with this podcast, and I'll even mention, it's called the lively show. Absolutely amazing. Like That is my path. I've always just felt so pulled to her work, because she's more about the flow of things. And she's into abraham hicks and quantum mechanics, and I followed her entire path. And I still am like I binge listened to her show. It is just absolutely amazing. And I got into inner voice facilitator training with her. And that's kind of where I am right now. Putting the two together naturally, and not even realizing that it just works so well together. So much fun, like fun. That's all I really want to do is have fun and help people. That's it. Yeah, that's it. Yeah.
Melissa Bright:
And when we originally talked, I could just tell your passion and how excited you were for it. Like I was like, and it made me I'm like, Oh my god, I cannot wait. I cannot wait to talk to her more about this. And we have also talked that we are going to do a session of RTT on me. So very quickly, before we go any further. Can you explain to the listeners exactly what RTT is?
Lauren Jean:
Yeah, well, I'll explain it very simply, the simple thing is it is a therapy created by Marissa Pier. She's known as like the UK is top therapist. And she started like way back in, I think the 80s she was working like for Jane Fonda. And she found out that through her work as a fitness instructor. She would do these classes with all these women who appeared to have like very high confidence right about their bodies, and they were taking care of themselves and they were working out. But then when she went into the locker room with them all they would talk about food, and so many of them had eating disorders. And they were kind of covering up their eating disorder with feeling good with working out. And yet they were all struggling like she said she was very hard to come across a woman who was actually confident about her body. And she had started to look more into it because again, she was not happy with people not getting what they really wanted. So she created her own therapy after training and getting you know her certification as a therapist and going to school and all this other stuff. She created her own modality which combined a bunch of other modalities hypnotherapy, NLP, a couple of others. So she put together her own and over 30 years she created her own modality rapid transformational therapy. And the whole point is that when you are going to therapy like talk therapy, you're not getting into the subconscious mind. So it's very hard to tap into those hidden protective mechanism that your mind holds for you. Right like you I'm going to talk therapy and talk about how you're feeling. You can get exercises and stuff to do, which is Oh, great, everything is great. But you can only talk so much about how you're feeling. And who wants to do that for their entire lives. Because it's not like you walk into therapy, and it's be like, oh, you'll have four sessions, and you'll be, you'll be good. Now, people go for 1020 3040 years, their whole life. So she did not want to have her clients feeling that way. Like they needed to rely on her. She wanted to help someone quickly. And she was intrigued by hypnotherapy. And, again, she created her own modality based on getting quick results. So I mean, she's been doing this for 30 plus years, she can get someone perfect, fixed, whatever, depending on the issue in one session, in one single one and a half to two hour session. So that was just like, wow, and seeing the results that she was getting, was just, it was blowing my mind. So I was just drawn to this. I'm like, I need to know more, I need to do this. Right. And I was just naturally brought that way. I was like a magnet to it. Right? I just needed to know more like, how does this work? And how the heck could I possibly do it? Like, I don't have training? I don't have this stuff.
Melissa Bright:
You know? Right. So have you ever personally had a session of your own of RTT?
Lauren Jean:
Oh, many? Many, many. Yeah, yeah. What was great about the training is a whole, you know, a group like there is on Facebook everywhere, with everyone who's studying it, or who has studied it, and then we just trade sessions for you know, practice testimonials, whatever it might be. So yeah, I've, I've done it a lots of times.
Melissa Bright:
Okay. And whenever, so something that just jumped out at me is you said, you know, depending on the issue, you know, they can go from like one to three sessions. So, what does it when you first meet with a client? What is it that you try to, I guess, figure out or ask them? Or what is that initial like consultation? look like? So then you can further I guess, obviously, then go into the session, like, what does that all look like for you?
Lauren Jean:
Well, that has nothing to do with me, just so you know, that has nothing to do with me. It's all with what are what, where are they wanting to go? Like, why are you here, that's not for me to determine at all. Um, that's for them to say, Okay, I have anxiety or weight loss, or whatever it might be. And I don't work with everything I used to, but I don't anymore. So that really depends on the person. And as far as how many sessions again, that depends on how deep their issue is like weight is generally a deeper issue. And I'm not going to bring someone in and magically, they're going to lose 10 pounds. Like it doesn't work like that. There's deeper reasons on why they're holding that 10 pounds. And it could take a while to actually get to the root issue, which is the whole point is we want to get you to that root issue to figure out why you're doing what you're doing, or why you can't get to a certain goal. So it's the whole point is to dig, dig deeper, which is what I've been doing my whole life, which is why this is perfect. digging deeper, and deeper and deeper. So if you go into a session with a specific issue, let's say weight loss just because and the session goes and you're not losing the weight, right? It might not be about weight loss, it might be about something you need to let go of something that your mind is holding on to to protect you. So it could be something like my mother when she was younger, like this is an example of like a scene that could possibly come up your, your child, right, you're between five and six, let's just say and you heard your mother talking badly about her body. That as a young child is being programmed into you because from the ages of zero to seven, sometimes later, you are in a constant hypnotic state. So if you have children, this is also a good thing to really think about. Like if you have young kids, you are programming them as if they are like a little computer. Their mind is a supercomputer sucking up every single word that you say. And I hear all the time or I used to hear all the time. The kids they have no idea. Yes they do. They are taking in every single word that you say. And they are making it their reality. Right. That's just how it is.
Melissa Bright:
Can you quickly explain what you mean by hypnotic state like that a kid is in a hypnotic state.
Lauren Jean:
So their mind is very malleable, it's not, it's not set at all it has, when when the when a child is born, it has no fears. It has no worries, it has none of that. And as a child, it's older and older and older, depending on who's around the child. Right? Those people are programming this child. Now when I mean a hypnotic state, I mean, they're not in they are conscious state like we are. And I should say, there are, let me go through this really quickly, so I can break it down. So there's different brain states, right? Delta is when we're sleeping, then there's alpha, beta, and theta, I'm not going to go through every single one and explain because that can take a lot of time, that could be a whole other issue. So too many things to worry about here. Alright, so there's those other brain states delta is sleep, I'll explain that one. When you're sleeping, you're in a Delta brain states. So your brainwaves are moving very, very slowly. They're at rest, they're peaceful, they're sleeping. Alright. And as you grow, you're going into a higher brainwave. So your brain is starting to move quicker, and quicker and quicker. And by the time you get to about seven, their brain is not fully developed, not by any chance. But now, they have had enough experience in their life where they have started to form beliefs. So when they're in that slower brainwave, that's lower brain state, those words are interchangeable, they are taking in everything, so their brains moving slower, creating beliefs, creating thoughts, creating reactions, whatever you want to call them. And when you get to about age seven, or eight, it's like, your brain bumps up the pace. And then you're in beta, which is what we're in right now. So there's beta, and there's high beta, high beta is like, anxiety, worry all the time, like you're in this constant stress. And just, you know, throughout our, our day, we bump in and out of different brain states. So you got sleeping, and then say you're on. So you're watching Netflix, or a TV show, right? You are in a slower brain, state brain state because you are focused, and there's like nothing going on around you, right? And if you have a kid, if you have a kid who is like, glued to a device, right, as a prime example, glued to a device, they don't hear what you're saying, because their brain has slowed down and they're so hyper focused on what they're watching. And it's the same thing as if you're on a highway, and you miss an exit, because you are in a hypnotic state. This is what a kid is in all of the time. Okay. All of the time. Does that make sense?
Melissa Bright:
Yep. 100%? Definitely, it does. Okay. Yes. Okay, so back to Okay, so now back to the weight loss. A kid had heard her mom say something negative about her body, she continued from this point.
Lauren Jean:
Okay, so, yes, that's when the beliefs start to form. So it doesn't have to be like a traumatic event. We hear this right. traumatic to us adults is something like, Oh my god, it's the worst thing in the world. traumatic event is simply something that creates a fear or worry in someone. So it doesn't have to be this major thing. This is just trauma placed on this little brain that has now created a belief about themselves, because they're not saying five or six year old little kid is not saying, oh, mommy's believing this about herself. This is like, Oh, this is what this is. This is me to like, it doesn't matter. It doesn't need to be put on the kid. It just needs to be in the vicinity where they could hear,
Melissa Bright:
right. Wow. So then, when you go to do a session, let's say about weight loss, do you discover at that point, and I'm sure it it can vary. But do you go into it and finally discover, like, Oh, this wasn't about the 10 pounds at all. This was about when, quote unquote, Janice was six years old. And her mom said something and she heard it is that what you those sessions kind of finally reveal?
Lauren Jean:
Just so you know, it's never about the weight. It's never the weight
Melissa Bright:
now, do you tell them going into your session like or do you just kind of let them discover that them discover that for themselves? Like so if I do a session and I say Laura, Laura, Lauren Jean, I have really bad anxiety. I think it's because of this way if you have your preconceived like opinions, like okay, she's saying it's about this, but more than likely, it's about this will you let me know Are you just going to take me through that session to kind of let it unfold. on its own,
Lauren Jean:
I always like to have the conversation first. Because a lot of times people think they know where it's coming from. Sometimes they do know, like, if they've been through therapy enough, sometimes they do know. But then when you going into it, maybe it's something completely different. It could be something they didn't even remember. Because when we're going into a session, we're tapping into your subconscious, what your subconscious is, it's like a vault that your mind is locked up. So a lot of the times, most of the times it is protecting you. So if your mind is protecting you, and that's the whole point of it, it's not going to allow these to come into your life. Because if they allow these these experiences to be in your life all the time, you will be even more of a mess thinking about these. So these are kind of scenes that you've completely forgotten about, you have in your subconscious, they're completely locked away, you have no idea that they're there. So that's why we need to get to that root issue so that you're in your subconscious state, not in your beta state, which again, we're talking now, in your subconscious state, we can allow the mind to open up and feel safe. Because when it's feeling safe, it's going to open up. And it's just going to allow this to come out, which then tells your subconscious mind, Oh, now I get it. And it's feeling safe. Because when you're in a beta state, again, like this, it doesn't feel safe. That's why we block these emotions. That's why we hide things. That's why we cover up. That's why we eat shop, rugs, drink, whatever. Because if you had these scenes, all the time available to you, your your mind would explode. Who knows what you would actually do. So that's why your mind is protecting you. It's keeping you safe by locking those away.
Melissa Bright:
Yeah. And that is something so whenever you and I, I've told you this story already, like when we became Facebook friends, some of your posts that you said, were so different than anything I had ever heard about the mind and about the subconscious that I was like, I have got to talk to this girl, like I have to talk to her. And I don't remember what it was. But you said something about the subconscious mind and the mind. And I don't want to say this, because I don't want to butcher whatever you had said. But the fact that like the mind is always, always always trying to keep you safe, can then kind of make it really hard for you to achieve things or do things that you want, like, because your mind is always always trying to keep you in this safe mode. Like that's its full job. And I don't want to say that's the minds full job, but you could maybe correct me and be like, no, that's literally all it does. Um, so can you can you explain a little bit more about the mind protecting you and why it's so important to like, why is it so important to maybe do one of these, these sessions with RTT? Like, whatever it is, I mean, you've said everything from weight loss to anxiety to trauma, what really this this could change and what this could help. And I know, I just kind of threw a lot of questions. But ultimately, how how does this help get cast your mind?
Lauren Jean:
Well, I can kind of sum this up in a way that most of my clients have told me that it's kind of like a mind blowing moment for them. And I'll you know, I'll use anxiety as an example, because I've actually had many of the women that I work with, tell me about this, and not even just anxiety and I'm thinking about it's been in other issues to where, you know, when you have the thought, right? And it creates that feeling. And then it creates whatever you're going to or not do so. So you have the anxiety issue. And you've had an RTT session. It's almost as if you are aware of the feeling. But the thoughts don't make you do anything. So it's kind of like, you know that the anxiety is there, or it should be there. Right? What the thoughts are not there. Yeah. So it's kind of like it's shifting the way that you're thinking. Right? And sometimes it's the opposite. It's like, Oh, I have the thoughts but no feelings. So it's shifting in your subconscious. What the heck is going on. So it's actually changing the way that you're thinking in the way that you're feeling without actually having to like take medication or go to therapy, or even cover it up. It's like, Huh, that's there. And it's okay. Roar, or I didn't feel anything like I didn't feel any anxiety today. Or I didn't want to, I didn't feel the need to binge eat today. Like, isn't that interesting? So it's like, it's recreating the belief in your head, because you're gonna do whatever you believe you're gonna make true, whatever you believe. So if you're not thinking about it, if your beliefs are shifting, it's gonna change what you're doing.
Melissa Bright:
Yeah. And I told you, whenever you kind of explain that to me, I had told you that I had just recently got on Prozac for being diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. And I said, that is exactly what is happening with my medicine is that I know usually, in this instance, I would be having anxiety or I would have already had anxiety today about our session, because I'm scared that I'm not going to ask the right questions, or something's gonna go wrong. And I'm not doing my due diligence, the way that I should, I would have major anxiety around around this. And then once I started taking my medicine, it's like, no, now I can walk into this room, have this interview, know that I could screw up, but it's okay. And as soon as you explain that, to me about that's kind of what the RTT session is, it can either go from from one side or back to the other. It's either the mind isn't thinking it, but the body feels it or the body is feeling it, but the mind doesn't. And just to have that kind of peace is incredible. And I know, you know that I've been doing the Prozac. But as we've talked about, we are going to do one of these sessions. And I cannot even wait to see like, you know, what comes up and what gets solved and all those things. But I just love the way that you explain it of like how it could be there. But then it just kind of goes away.
Lauren Jean:
Yeah. And this is great for people who you know, some people are okay with being on medication, like some people doesn't matter, and that's fine. But some people don't want to be on medication at all, even for a little bit or for the rest of their lives. So this helps those people who just like, No, I want to do this naturally, I want to try something different. A lot of people are just like really intrigued on it. Or they're just like done, like they just they just can't handle their situation anymore. So it's good for really wherever you are. And if this is calling you like if your intuition is saying, Yes, I want to do this, this sounds exciting. Or I just want to get off my medication. Like it's good for anyone who feels like it's a fit for them. Yeah, there's no one telling you to do it. But again, it's all on how you're feeling and what you're either tired of dealing with or what you just want to try for fun.
Melissa Bright:

I've had a lot of anxiety people a lot. And it's not because I wasn't putting it out there. It was kind of like coming to me I was like hmm, this is what people are dealing with. And I have a feeling it was a lot of last year the pandemic It was really bringing up heavy emotions for people So like, I'm not stuck to one type of issue, I find it interesting to work with, like all different types. And the great thing with this is like, you can niche down in this, but it's so vast, and like, I don't have to know anything about anxiety to help someone, I don't have to know anything about any particular like medical disorder, nothing. I just need to know where you want to go to. That's it. It's that simple. I don't need to know your past. I don't need to know what you don't want to feel. All I need to know is, in this moment, what do you want to get out of this session? That's it.
Melissa Bright:
And how do you make less is another loaded question. But how do you make that happen? Because that is incredible. Because like, even just me being this overthinker. Now I would be like, Oh, she's probably went to like 10 years worth of schooling and had to learn everything, from anxiety, to depression to trauma to this to that. And now you're telling me that? No, I don't really need to know anything. I just need to know where you want to go. So can you kind of explain how you get somebody to where they want to go?
Lauren Jean:
I asked them.
Melissa Bright:
Yeah, but then how do you facilitate that?
Lauren Jean:
All I need to do is bring them into their past and find out why they're dealing with the issue. So why are dealing with the anxiety? Let's take you back. Bring me to a scene. It's obviously you know, more questions go involved. But we're here now this is what you want. Let's take you back to your childhood. Let's find a scene. Where are you first started with that? Yeah, that's where my answer is. I don't need to know anything more. Now, I do know more with certain things because I'm a nerd. And I'm a science nerd. And I love it. So sometimes that's where my mind takes me. I'm like, Oh, this is really cool. Let me find out about this. But generally, no, I don't have to know anything.
Melissa Bright:
Can you solve more than one issue at a time? So say somebody had a binge eating disorder on top of anxiety? Or do you just try to address one issue per session, or however it works?
Lauren Jean:
Well, I do, excuse me, do one set one thing at a time. But the thing is, if we deal with the anxiety, right? And you're feeling better, there's a good chance that you're going to get other benefits from it. Okay, many other benefits, sleep, I've had people stop eating sugar. I've had people notice their mindset around money has changed how free they feel in their head. So it's like you're going in for one particular issue, because I can't take you back to a scene where we're trying to figure out where your anxiety came from, and then binge eating to your mind is like, what are you doing? That's too complicated. Yeah, I can't do that. But then you're going to get so many other benefits from that one session. So yes, you're going in for one. But you could come out with five other benefits as well.
Melissa Bright:
Okay, before our session, do you have me do like before we would even meet in our session? Do you have me do any kind of like homework in terms of Melissa, I need to know before we go into our session, why you are here? Like what is it exactly? Because I can think of probably 10 things I would want to fix. And it's like no focus on one right now. Um, so do you make sure that somebody knows that before you is that kind of like what your introductory call is even about?
Lauren Jean:
The introductory call is just so they can see a person face to face, and see kind of what they're struggling with and where they want to get to. Now over the couple of years that I've been doing this, I've simplified the process I used to, because now that when we'll go into this the inner voice stuff, too, I used to and people's minds complicate everything. We complicate everything all the time for no reason at all. So I even looked back at my form a couple of months ago. I'm like, this is so unnecessary. I don't need all this information. This is just as what my mind is telling me, this is what I should be doing. But now that I'm doing the inner voice stuff, it's like, No, you don't need that. So I'm going to be cutting down that form majorly. So when I send that over to you, it's going to be very minimal. But yeah, we'll go into that too. But there's not really many things. It's like, I like to ask like power words, which are kind of like emotional words emotion words that bring up like excited emotions for you happy emotions, joyful, because then I'm going to be able to create your recording for that. There are things I'm trying to think. I don't know, off the top of my head. Like I said, it's too hard right now, it doesn't need to be that way. So I'm, I'm trimming it down. But basically it's like, Alright, and even a day before, like, I'll have you fill out that form. And you'll have an answer. And then the day before I like to check in, it's like, Okay, what are we going in for? And I repeat things just to see like where you're at, right? Because I want you to be comfortable. I want you to be going into the session, knowing that you're getting what you want, not like what you feel like you have to stick to. Because that's another thing we think we need to like, make the other person happy. Like, no, this is about you. This is not about what's going to make me happy. It's not going to make me happy. It's not It's not meant to make me happy. It's meant to make you get what you want. Right? That's another thing we do people please like, Oh, well, I'll change my mind. But I don't want to say anything. Because what if she plan this? What if it? No, I don't plan anything.
Melissa Bright:
Right? Yeah. Oh, my goodness. So okay, so you mentioned something about a recording. So can you explain to people also what that means and what happens in terms of the recording?
Lauren Jean:
Yes, so we do the whole session, right. So it's about figure that's about an hour, the session that we go through scenes and everything, we go through about three to four sessions, three to four scenes in your past. And then after we get all the information we need your subconscious mind understands, then we create a recording for you that you will listen to for three weeks or 21 days. And that's where the rapid transformational therapy comes from. It's rapid, because you're listening to this recording. In traditional hypnotherapy, you're just having a session and there's no recording, maybe some modalities are are. But you're not having a recording to constantly rewire your mind. With this, you're getting a recording that you're taking with you and you're going to listen to for 21 days, then I recommend either in the evening when you're going to sleep, or when you first wake up in the morning, or even if you're waking up in the middle of the night to like use the bathroom. Because that's when your subconscious mind is like wide awake. That's when your brain is moving slow and can take in kind of like when you're when you're a kid and you're in this slow brain state. If you get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, it's almost like you're sleepwalking, right? That's a perfect time, or as you're dozing off to go to sleep. And you can fall asleep with this. Because when you're sleeping, your brain is moving slower, and you're in that brain state that you could be in. Now, I'm not saying that you have to listen to it at this time. But this is when it's the most effective.
Melissa Bright:
Yeah, I feel like recently and tell me if this is crazy, or there's something to this, but I feel like sometimes maybe I'm assuming 3456 in the morning that I have had some epiphanies, about my podcast about how I want to go forth with my business, so on and so forth, that it's just one or two sentences. That's just like, Melissa, stop doing that. Or Melissa, you need to do this or don't even keep bothering with this. And it's like something is speaking to me. It's not a it's not a dream. But it's just like, and I'm like, Yeah, you're right, like, well, I don't I kind of say it in my head like, yeah, you're right. This is right. And I'm like, Is this my subconscious telling me like? And it's usually because I think a lot about my podcast and all the time and trying to stay aligned and serving my audience. Is there something to that like in those morning hours that maybe your subconscious is telling you things that might be on your mind about business? Let's just say my, my business?
Lauren Jean:
Oh, absolutely, absolutely. I even I would even go deeper and say that that's your inner voice that your intuition right there, you're not thinking, when you're not thinking you can allow that inner voice to come in. And it could lead you to do anything. It's kind of like a good way to explain the inner voice which I didn't fully understand until I really started practicing this is you ever go throughout your day, and all of a sudden you get like, something just drops in your head? Like you're not thinking you're not trying to think about anything, but you kind of get this pain or this inspiration. Yeah. And you're like, what, like, Where did that come from? That's, that's your intuition. That's your inner voice speaking to you saying Yeah, do this or not do this. Okay. Oh, yeah. Those are the kinds of things that that's why I keep something next to my bed. Like if I wake up in the morning, and and that's a great time to meditate too. Because then you can even bring even more into that, right? I mean, there's so much more to talk about on this. But yeah, that's the stuff that you write down and then you go back to sleep.
Melissa Bright:
Yep. Oh, I have a note like in my iPhone. My notes are constant. And it's usually like if I go to bed or something. But I know that I just told you even earlier, I'm like, hey, if I have a question, I gotta write it down, because it will just go out of my brain faster than it came in. And I don't want to forget it. But that's exactly what what has definitely been happening to me. So I think then this is just a kind of a perfect transition over into inner voice facilitation. My saying that yes, yes. Okay. So now if we, if you can explain to me what exactly that is, because you and I haven't spoke a lot on this. And I'm super excited to hear hear about all this. Okay, so
Lauren Jean:
for the purpose of this podcast, will say that you have two parts of you, right? If that your ego, you got your inner voice and your voice could be intuition. It could be universe, it could be God, like whatever you want to call it, whatever word works best for you. And then you have the ego, which is your protective minds, the thinking line, the critical mind, the I'm not enough mind the I'm not worthy, or I can't do this, or I should do that. All those critical pieces, those protective pieces, that's your ego, I kind of like to compare it to like, remember the older cartoons with the devil and the angel on your shoulder? Yep. Right. And people can kind of understand that. So it's like, your inner voice is the angel. And the ego is like the devil. Right? So if you think of it, that way, you can kind of understand there are two parts of you. Right? So you have this intuition, like, something that you wake up in the morning with, right? You have that you're going throughout your day, you're you're thinking about it, and then it's like something stops you. Because then your ego comes in, you're like, well, how are you going to do that? It wants to know, how when, where it wants to know everything, where your inner voice is like, but everything's okay. Like, it's like that happy, annoying friend, that just keep just keep saying like, but you're fine, everything's fine, it's gonna be okay. And, like, deep inside, you know, everything's gonna be okay. It's just like a knowing piece of you. But then your ego comes in. And it's like, well, how, how are you going to do this, like, it's this constant battle between these two voices. Like, I know, I should go to the gym, I'll use that example. And then your ego is like, but you don't want to, but you're tired. You I have the kids, I have to do this and then suddenly go to the gym, you finally get it, you finally listen to that intuition voice. And then your back starts hurting. It's like you've created a reason to not be there, your egos doing that, because it's like, oh, but I really have other things to do. So Oh, my back hurts, I should leave. Right? It's this constant back and forth battle. And a big thing of what I love to teach is, a lot of people don't understand how to tell the difference between the two. So that's where the whole inner voice facilitation comes in, where we're in a session, and we are strictly talking to your inner voice the entire time, like the entire time for a good hour to an hour and a half, where you are in a meditative state. And it's kind of like, like I said, before, your brain is moving slower. And we're pulling out the pieces from your inner voice to give you the answers the clarity that you're looking for, no matter what topic it could be. Sometimes we go into a session and there is a specific area like career, relationships, health, those are three major areas that people are always worried about thinking about struggling around. And then it could just be a session where someone wants to go in and just smoke again, wants to have fun, and see what comes up. So yeah, there's, it's just, it's just so much fun, because this is the path to really trusting yourself, and not letting your insane human mind direct you because it's not the minds job. to lead your life. It's the mind job to keep you safe to keep you protected. And to do analytical stuff, like your mind is there to protect you. Your mind is there to tell you to not touch the stove because it's hot or to get out of the street. There's a car coming to keep you safe to keep you protected. It's not there to tell you that you can't do something because you're not good enough. Right?
Melissa Bright:
So is there things exercises that people could do? Let's even say starting today to help shut down the ego and more listen to that inner voice because like you said, one of the hardest things is Telling which one is which I think sometimes we think it could be easy. We're like, oh, the thing talking us out of this or keeping us safe is our ego. But we can't say and definitely that that's always the case. So are there things that people could do on a daily basis that could get them really more in tune with their inner voice?
Lauren Jean:
Oh, absolutely. I would even switch it and say, if you've never done this kind of work before, I would say the way I started, before I even knew about inner voice work was I started to notice the thoughts that my ego was saying, how is it bringing me down? Like, what is this voice saying, Just notice the thoughts that are going through your head, notice the patterns of the thoughts that are going through your head. It's like starting there, it's like understanding each side. Because if you've never done inner voice work before, you might not even be able to hear it. Because there could be so much chatter. Like if you're dealing with anxiety, right, there could be so much negative chatter in your in your head, that you could even say, I don't even have an inner voice, I can't even hear it. It's not there. Because it's this other voice that's like screaming at you. And it's scared, and it's frustrated. And it doesn't understand why it can't hear. Like if you go in and you're just looking strictly for the inner voice, and you get frustrated, you're just going to get more frustrated. So starting with just noticing the thoughts that you have, on a daily basis, because most of those thoughts, like 90% to 95% of those thoughts are the same thoughts that you had the day before and the day before and the day before. Because if it's one thing that our mind likes, is to be comfortable, even if it's uncomfortable, it just wants to know that it's safe, and that it is comfortable. Think about going into a new situation, right? Think about the pandemic last year, how many people freaked out, right? Because we don't know what's going to happen. The mind does not like anything unfamiliar, it's always gonna bring you back to the familiar, even if you're miserable there. That's why people stay in horrible relationships, or they just don't go to the gym, because they're more comfortable not going to the gym, they're more comfortable making excuses than actually doing the thing that's going to make them happy. Because your mind does not care if you're happy. Just cares if you're comfortable and safe. That's it.
Melissa Bright:
Do you feel that most people these days are listening to just their ego?
Lauren Jean:
Oh, hell yeah.
Unknown:
I mean, I figured that was an obvious answer, or question, whatever. But gosh, that is so unfortunate. I mean, I feel like as soon as you said that, I'm like, I don't know that I hear my inner voice a lot. But lately, like I said, I've been having those those things had coming to me like early on in the morning, and I'm like, do not forget this, or Melissa, this is what you need to do. So on and so forth. Like, I'm worried about one thing. Let's say, I don't I can't even think of an example. I'm worried about this one thing. But then two days later in the morning, the answer comes, but it's almost the answer of it's like, most of you got this, don't worry about it. But you just need to focus on this one thing. And I'm like, there we go. There's my answer this whole thing that I was worried about. And that's just, it's crazy. So his inner voice work that you do those sessions like how what are the similarities between the sessions of RTT and inner voice work that you do? And then what are some differences?
Lauren Jean:
I wouldn't say that they're similar. Okay, really, okay. They work together very well. If it if I'm feeling it, like it's not up to the person that I'm working with, I work a lot with my own intuition. If I'm just feeling the pull to bring this person in, and to talk to them in their in their inner voice, then I'll do that. But if not, I won't I follow pretty much the guidance now of my own inner voice, because now I understand what the hell, it's saying. I can understand it, I can hear it. But then a big piece of that is in the inner voice Sessions is there's a couple of different ways to go about it. There's like the traditional inner voice session where we're talking to an inner voice. But then a lot of the times, almost every single time. I can't say there actually has been a time where someone hasn't had this. There's something called like the emotional beanbags or resistance or kind of like, have you ever had a feeling where you want to say something, but it's like, stuck in your throat. You're like, you're thinking to yourself, your ego is saying, Why can't you say this? Yeah, like you're holding back. That's like what we would call like an emotional baby. There is resistance there. There is a Energy blockage in your body. So a piece of the inner voice work is to release the energy that is trapping you from saying what you want to say. So this is where it gets even deeper and more fun. And there is a lot of energy release in the session. So besides just speaking to the inner voice, you're releasing the resistance behind whatever you're holding in your body. Right? Because we know we're we know we're all energy. We hear this all the time. We're full of it. We've got the chakras. There's so many, there's so much science behind this. And I can tell you, I've done many inner voice sessions myself, and the very first one I had, I had like a pounding headache after because I had something I was holding on to for so long, that I just cried the entire session. And it's like that is an energy release. Crying is energy release. yawning is an energy release sneezing, anything that you are projecting from your body. Yeah, the rolling up is an energy release, like whatever it is, you are releasing, you're not holding things in burping, farting, Anything? Anything,
Melissa Bright:
right.
Lauren Jean:
So like, that's a piece of it. And I do just beanbag sessions as well, to help people release energy from their bodies. And it's so powerful.
Melissa Bright:
Is it usually a particular phrase that they're holding on to in their body? In terms of like, I just, I just want to love myself? Like, is it something as simple as that, like, in terms of those emotional beanbags? Or is it usually just? I don't know, I'll let you answer that question. Well, it depends on the topic of true,
Lauren Jean:
it's really anything. Like, I'll be on the mind asking the universe question. So say you're the inner voice on the mind. Right? I'm on the side asking your inner voice question journal, meditative state relaxed state. And if I get to a question and you're kind of like, silent, I can go digging in deeper and be like, is there resistance there? Is there? You know, are you feeling like there's a beanbag there? And most of the time person will say yes, or the be silent. So that's when we then go into it, and we begin that release process. And then we kind of continue. So it's kind of like, if I asked you a question that you're uncomfortable with, you're gonna feel an emotional reaction, right? If there's no blockage there, there's no beanbag there, you're going to be able to answer the question easily. Right? So think about this, like in everyday life, if something that someone else says to you, unintentionally irritates you, that's a beanbag. That's not the other person trying to come and attack you. That's you feeling attacked? That's something that you've been holding on to for probably your entire life.

Stop telling your that that's exactly what happens to me that literally my boyfriend and I were, that's what we fight about is he will say something that is so not intended to hurt my feelings, but I'm the most sensitive human being on this earth. And he's like, how did you get what I just said, turned into this. And he's like, you have the world's best filter. And by best filter, I mean, worse filter, because, and it's exactly that he's like, I don't even know where to go from here. And that's exactly what it is. It's something else that has happened. Yes, that you're not even aware of. Yep. You're
Lauren Jean:
just like, why would he say that? Why? Why would you even say that? Why would you do that to me?
Melissa Bright:
Yep. Why would you make me feel that way? Oh, my God, not about the other person. It's about you. Right. So who is inner voice work for?
Lauren Jean:
Anyone? Anyone who is interested in it, anyone who was intrigued by it? Because the first question that I'll ask someone who wants to do it is, what does your inner voice say? I have to have a yes. It can't be like, I gotta think about it. So it'd be like a yes. Because then if I go into a session, and the person was like, on the fence, then they're gonna say, Oh, I can't, I can't hear it. You have to be open to it, you have to be intrigued by it. It's got to be a fun thing. And if you're in this entrepreneurial world where we're so open, or you just want to connect with yourself more, then this is a great way to do it. Because this is a modality that you can then learn to do on your own. So it's not like you're relying on a therapist, you're not relying on anyone, because it all comes down to you. And once you can learn this process, begin to unravel. Lock all of those beanbags, because we got hundreds, I still got a ton to work through relationships was my thing. I'm like, forget that. And every time I go into a relationship session, I'm just like, either angry or uptight, or I want to like scream or cry. It's like, that's the stuff to deal with. So it's for anyone who has interest in different modalities and is tired of trying to cover up their feelings. And they want to just like project this crap from their body. Yeah, because it's causing. Also, I mean, there's so many other ways to look at beanbags, think of beanbags could be like a pain that you're feeling in your neck. It could be unexplained pains, unexplained stomach aches, headaches, anything. Yep. It could go as deep as disease like IBS, anything, you could be anything.
Melissa Bright:
I had something really, really crazy happened to me on Monday. So long story short, my my dad passed away back in January, and my brother and I had to go down to his house in on Thursday to go get some of his stuff from his house. And, you know, that's, that's really, really emotional. And we knew what was happening. And Monday night, I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst stomach cramps I've I've ever had. I literally thought I was dying. And I'm like, was this from drinking? Was this from eating too much? Is this from eating too much cheese? Like, I'm like, there is no way in hell, this could be just strictly my emotions, could it could this What is going on? And I still don't have the answer. I will tell you it lasted about 24 hours. But I there now that I have went there and have done the stuff and got my dad's stuff, like I do feel like a weight has been emotionally lifted off of my shoulders because I put so much around that event going down there facing you know, facing that that sadness, you know, and one thing I did try to at least tell myself is Melissa, you can't run from this, you're gonna have to feel it, you're gonna have to go and do this. But I do think something that happened Monday with my stomach has at least been involved somewhat with with the event that was about to happen. And me finally, like really thinking about it. And it's just crazy. But everything like you said from the headaches, I know, mine is always the tension in my shoulders. I wake up like I'm like this. And I'm like, Melissa, calm down girl like
Lauren Jean:
yeah, I mean, think our heads, our stomachs are connected. Yep. So when you're thinking something, you're gonna feel it in your stomach. Mm hmm.
Melissa Bright:
And my anxiety I will say before this my anxiety, my worst symptom was stomach cramps, like, I have went to the doctor before, because I thought something else was wrong with me. And then finally, somewhere along the line, I put two and two together is no, there is something surrounding this about anxiety. I'm either trying to make this situation perfect, or I'm nervous about something I'm trying to people, please, I finally put the correlation of No, this is just my anxiety now that the stomach cramps didn't happen that often. But when they did, they're like a migraine, you can't stop thinking about them, which then that goes hand in hand like Oh, God, now all I can think about is my stomach hurting so then it doesn't get any better. And it's just a freakin vicious cycle. It's just crazy what our minds can do to our bodies physically.
Lauren Jean:
Let me also throw this in here. I know, we're I know we're getting close to the end. But when you say my anxiety, right, our minds create an identity. This is a whole This is a whole other topic, by the way. But I'll throw this out here. Because I want you to think about this. When your mind's going to create this persona, this identity of who you are. When you use the word my with the anxiety, it makes it yours, it makes it who you are, and therefore your mind is going to create that anxiety to make it who you are.

so you need to stop identifying with anxiety. Yeah, changing the words on how you speak to yourself and about yourself. That's also a way to be more aware. Right? When you say my be like, nope, correct yourself immediately. Don't shame yourself for saying it be like, Oh, crap, I said it again. Just be like, Oh, just correct it. Because it's the identity of who we believe we are. Right when we believe something about us. Yeah, it's gonna be who we are. We're gonna have a bad day. I'm gonna say oh, that's That's just the kind of day I'm going to have. Yeah, you're gonna have a crappy day. So if you identify with anxiety, if it's mine, yeah, it's gonna be yours. It's so easy as that.
Melissa Bright:
Right? It's so crazy. Like, I've been thinking a lot lately, like, just about cliche phrases, like, if you think you can, you can, if you think you can't, you can't. And it's like, God, these are so freakin true. But people don't want to like, hear them or listen to them. And then as soon as it is that thing, and you're like, wait, I didn't believe in myself in this instance. And I did do this thing. Oh, my God, I do believe. But it's all these dumb, stupid cliche phrases, but it's like, no, they really are. So true. And I just think it's so so fascinating with with what you do. Now, can I ask you, is this anything that society looks at as being weird or awkward? Or they're like, Yeah, I don't know if that inner voice stuff is for me, or I don't know if RTT is for me. Because for me, and where I am in my life, I'm like, give me anything that's going to get me better and to get me to my true authentic self, where other people might not be ready to face the real truths. Yeah, what do you think society looks like the looks at these things?
Lauren Jean:
I think it's definitely more open. However, you have to be to a point where nothing has helped you. Or you truly are intrigued by it. And you're someone who wants to constantly learn about yourself. So it's like, if you're just going to toss this out to any random person out there. No, they're not going to really come back and say, Oh, yeah, but on the other hand, everyone knows about intuition. Everyone knows that they have something inside of them, whether they talk about it or not. Everyone has a knowing or a feeling a sensing, because that's who we are as humans. So they can relate to that. Definitely, I would say a lot better than our tea tea. Okay, because it's just something that we all know, like, if you put a bunch of women in a group, right? One person says something about an experience they had, and then someone else would be like, wow, yeah, that happened to me, too. And then it's just like, everyone's talking about it.
Melissa Bright:
Right? It's incredible. It's incredible. So I do since you obviously, this is what you do. And realizing that that's a choice and you're not stuck in anything. You don't have to listen to what anyone else is telling you. Just have fun, because that's just to me, that's bright, that's happy. That's exciting. Just have fun. That's really what life is about. We all do things we're feeling. And for me, that's that's having fun.
